Mentorship Training Course
The Mentorship Training Course equips IIT Bombay students to support their peers’ personal, emotional, and academic growth. Rooted in clinical psychology, it trains mentors in Psychological First Aid, suicide prevention, active listening, and empathetic communication. Mentors also learn practical tools like personality assessments and emotional regulation strategies.
The program not only enables them to guide others with care and sensitivity but also builds their own empathy, self-awareness, and interpersonal skills—fostering a more connected and supportive campus community.

Ongoing Programs Details
Module 1: Understanding Student Well- being
Introduces mentors to the vital role of student wellbeing in IIT life, aiming to build awareness of mental health, stress management, and healthy routines. It provides practical strategies for addressing common challenges like stress, lack of sleep, and substance abuse, giving mentors the skills to support holistic wellbeing among their mentees
Module 3: Building Effective Mentor-Mentee Relationship
Aims to strengthen the mentor-mentee relationship, building trust and open communication through practical tools and ethical boundaries. Mentors learn how to motivate and support students, address challenges, and foster accountability, enabling a more engaged, positive, and resilient student community
Module 2: Supporting Students in Times of Distress
Equipping mentors with the skills to recognize and respond to student distress, including suicide prevention and early intervention techniques. Through training in empathy, crisis response, and professional referral, this module ensures mentors can offer timely support, create a safe space, and guide students toward resources during difficult times.
Module 4: Guiding Students to Thrive
This Module prepares mentors to help students thrive beyond academics, emphasizing the PERMA well-being model, a growth mindset, and healthy technology use. It offers concrete exercises to address procrastination and academic stress, empowering mentors to inspire holistic growth and balanced achievement in their mentees
